You will need a Kombucha culture + stater tea, 5 green or black tea bags, a breathable cloth, a rubber band and one cup of sugar.
In a large pot, boil 3 quarts of water.
Add the sugar and continue to simmer for about 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and add the tea bags. Let tea mixture seep for about 20 mintues.
Remove tea bags and let mixture cool completely.
Transfer to the gallon jar and carefully place the culture on top of the tea mixture shiny side up. Pour the starter tea over the culture and cover with the cloth. Fasten secure with the rubber band.
Let the Kombucha ferment for 7-14 days. Once it has finished fermenting, bottle the Kombucha in the fridge. Gently separate the mother culture from the baby and store in some Kombucha tea in the fridge.
