Food for Math Geeks

Now this is some vegetable matter that even my mathematically inclined, veggie evading brother can get into.  Behold the Fractal Cauliflower, in all its spiral glory.

We found this visual veggie in Costa Rica and we weren’t exactly sure what it was.  Once I had it in my hands I knew it was a type of cauliflower.  It is part of the Brassicaceae family, which includes brocolli and cabbage.  This is the only fractal cauliflower I’ve seen and it unfortunately wasn’t in that great of shape.  However, there are plenty of amazing images on the internet!  Check out this link to see some great images!
