Yes, you heard it right.  Honest Tea Inc, now has their own brand of kombucha!  This appears to be the first existing tea company to start selling some this fizzy, probiotic-filled beverage.  The popularity of kombucha is really on the rise.  I had my choice of 3 different brands at Whole Foods today.  I picked out one of Honest Tea’s Peach Mango flavors.  The words “Live, Organic & Raw” was the first thing to make my hand reach for the bottle.  Not every commercial kombucha company can claim this.

In terms of flavor, Honest Kombucha is quite tasty.  The flavors of peach and mango really compliment the tanginess of the kombucha.  One reason I still favor GT’s brand was completely obvious right off:  the fizziness.  Everyone loves a good bit of fizz in a drink, and kombucha’s fizziness is part of what makes it fun to drink!  I love to hear the sound of the cap releasing pressure, and when I opened my Honest Kombucha today, I did not get that effect.  All in all, its good tea flavorwise, but it could use some more fizziness.

I have yet to find any kombucha products on the Honest Tea website, so they must be pretty new.  It sounds like the production of kombucha from this company is backed by Coca-Cola!  Well, I guess it figures.  Everyone wants to cash in on this culture cow.    As for me, I will continue to buy bottles of commercial brands until I am finally able to start brewing again.
